CANDIDATES:Usually men and women over 30, although some patients in their thwenties may benefit from this procedure.
OBJECTIVE:To remove excess fat from the neck and jowls and improve the deep fold from the nose to the corner mouth, the jaw line and cheekbones.
INCISIONS AND TECHNIQUEThere are usually no incisions, only needle points, under the chin and behind the earlobes to aspirate fat from the neck and some needle points in the cheeks and marionette lines to inject fat. Sometimes it is necessary to aspirate fat from another part of the body for injection, also through a small stab incision. Liposculpture improves neck contour. To reposition the lost volume we will inject fat, which is aspirated from another area.
OPERATING TIME30 mins to one hour.
ANESTHESIALocal or local with sedation.
IN/OUT PATIENT:Usually outpatient.
RECOVERY:Back to work: 3 to 5 days. More strenuous activity: 2 weeks. Bruising: is usually minimal, but may take 2 to 3 weeks to disappear when it happens. Must limit exposure to sun for one month.
RISKS:Complications from liposculpture are not frequent. Infection, bleeding and reactions to anesthesia are rare.
DETAILS:We have been performing "refreshing" techniques, offering our patients an alternative to the classical facelift for facial rejuvenation. We start treating our patients at an earlier age say 35, and can also improve the face that has been "over-stretched" by the traditional facelift techniques. "Refreshing" does not give the same results as rhytidoplasty, it is a more gentle, facial recontouring procedure and complements other facial techniques. .
